We are selling the business because our boys are embarking on their own careers, our parents are in need of more care, and we are reaching retirement age.

 

ABOUT THE BUSINESS

The Bamboo Room is open from 7 am to 9 pm daily during the summer. In winter, we are open four days a week, from 7 am to 2 pm and 5-8 pm. We are known for our great breakfasts, burgers and seafood, especially our Halibut & Chips. The Pioneer Bar is open daily in the summer from 8 am until potentially 5 am the next day. It is popular among young outdoors adventurers and known for great live music. In the winter, it is open four days a week until snow sports enthusiasts start arriving in March. Skiing Magazine touted the Pioneer as one of the top 31 ski town bars in North America. Patrons have left their imprint and original art on ceiling tiles. Provocative bumper stickers embellish the 100-year-old back bar.

 

The Bamboo Room provides catering at outside venues throughout the year. We have served as many as 250 guests at sit-down dinners. Every summer, we prepare about 5000 lunches for a local tour company. The bar also caters special events.

We currently have a product inventory of about $25,000 in each business. Our 2018 gross receipts were over $900,000 (this was with our winter schedule through the middle of May).

The business has been family owned for 66 years. Our boys have worked beside us, waiting tables and cooking in the restaurant. This has given them a great work ethic and afforded them many opportunities through connections they have made in our establishment. We have a terrific staff, most of whom have worked many years for us. We are known for good, fast, and friendly service.

Over the years, our reputation has grown exponentially. We have been recognized in U.S.A. Today, Outside Magazine, National Geographic Explorer, Sunset Magazine, Esquire Magazine and RoadBike Motorcycle Cruising. We were the only establishment in Alaska featured in 2011 Coastal Living Magazine's top 25 seafood restaurants in America. We have also been featured on the Hallmark Channel “America” series, in a “Food Finds” episode on the Food Network and in many commercial skiing and snowboarding films.
